Fitbit activity trackers become first to sync to Android devices through Bluetooth 4.0Tweet
New App allows Android users to track activity stats on the go with live syncing direct to devices
London – 12, February, 2013 – Fitbit One™ and Fitbit Zip™, the latest wireless activity and sleep trackers from Fitbit in the UK, now sync directly to select Android devices using the latest Bluetooth 4.0 technology thanks to a new App available today from the Google Play store.
This makes them the only activity trackers on the market globally and in the UK that offer Android owners the ability to track activity on the go, with live stat syncing and real-time progress updates direct to their phone or tablet.
The updated Android app will be compatible with the Samsung Galaxy SIII and Samsung Note II with more devices available shortly. This compliments Fitbit’s existing Bluetooth 4.0 capabilities on iOS Bluetooth Smart Ready devices, including the iPhone 4S, 5 and iPad 3.
Using the Fitbit mobile app, users can set goals, see stats updated, and track progress when they are on the go. And because the Fitbits sync wirelessly throughout the day, users also receive notifications on their phone when they are close to their goals to keep them motivated and, when they meet their goals, to celebrate achievements.
The current UK market for Android has expanded rapidly over the past few years with 36.9% of all mobile users now owning an Android handset.
We're delighted that we can now offer our Bluetooth 4.0 feature to our customers on Android devices opening up a significantly large part of the UK mobile market. The ability to track your stats on the go with automatic syncing is central to Fitbit's approach of making our customers more aware of their daily activities and in the process inspiring and motivating them to do more. We are committed to investing in multiplatform mobility making our products to available and accessible to as many as possible moving forwards
